It's time to Awaken the Medicine Woman Within!

Hola, sisters. I am still in Peru. After a delightful 3 month stay on an island in Silba, where there are no cars and the cleanest ocean, we decided to journey to the sacred valley in Peru. Pisac the small town where we are staying is incredible for community and fun activities for the little ones, AND there is still an ongoing search to find "the place" to call our forever home. It's funny because being a nomadic family was never the plan, it just kind of happened. So, we are exploring more car-free islands in Europe. I will keep you updated.

For now, Pisac is nourishing us deeply and I feel so grateful to deepen my connections with my sisters here. We are coming together on full and new moons and every Sunday for women's yoga. My womb is saying, "Yes, thank you," and it all feels so aligned with my new book, "Reclaiming Circle," set to be released on the 27th of November - Full Moon manifestation! (Pre-order link)

Thank you to everyone who checked in with me regarding the recent death of my brother, just 7 months ago. Someone recently said that grief doesn't get smaller; we just grow around it. It really resonated with me after my brother's passing. This journey has shaped how I want to express myself and how I want to share. I desire to raise my daughter with as much presence as possible, and live recordings were putting a strain on me, as I was spending a lot of time planning, recording, and editing. So, I am attempting to share what is asking to come through using written words.

I am feeling deeply moved by my womb, and this has come from the journey back into my body and reflecting on "What life do I desire to live?" "How can I show up in full authenticity?" and "How can I make time to clear my body of unnecessary tension and tune into myself and the collective to offer something that will support women in their daily lives?"

So, I hope that these words and rituals serve as inspiration and a heartfelt compass to guide you back home to yourself.

Blessings,

Danielle

Grounding Morning Practice

Let's embark on our journey with a grounding and clearing practice that sets the stage for a fresh start each day. This practice is a powerful tool to help you become more aware of any sensations that may be arising in your body and mind. It's an exploration of self, both physical and emotional, offering you an insight into your baseline each morning,

Chakra Exploration

Chakras, often associated with colors and words, are key energy centers within our bodies. Each chakra corresponds to different aspects of our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. But remember, the real magic unfolds when we immerse our awareness in these energy points. Rather than having rigid expectations about what you should or should not experience within each chakra, think of them as portals for self-discovery.

Here's a step-by-step guide to our daily chakra exploration, simply breathing 10 breaths into these spaces:

1. Base Chakra- Begin at the base of your spine, grounding yourself like the roots of a tree.

2. Sacral Chakra - Progress to the sacral chakra, located just below your navel. This chakra is connected to creativity and emotions.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra - Move on to the solar plexus chakra, situated in the upper abdomen. This chakra is associated with personal power and self-esteem.

4. Heart Chakra - Continue at the heart chakra, at the center of your chest. This chakra is all about love and compassion.

5. Throat Chakra - Proceed to the throat chakra, located in your throat area. It relates to communication and self-expression.

6. Pineal/Third Eye Chakra - Advance to the pineal or third eye chakra, found between your eyebrows. This chakra is linked to intuition and insight.

7. Crown Chakra - Finally, reach the crown chakra at the top of your head. It represents spiritual connection and enlightenment.

As you explore each chakra, pay close attention to any that make you feel distracted or uneasy. When you identify such a chakra go back to it after you've passed through each and then follow these steps:

  • Bring your focus back to that specific area.

  • Extend your hands away from your body to connect with its energy.

  • Whisper to yourself, 'I love you, I see you, I am listening.'

  • Take ten deep breaths to engage with the energy at that chakra.

This practice is a beautiful way to begin your day, allowing you to cultivate self-awareness, balance, and a deeper connection with your inner self. It's a journey of self-discovery and healing that can help you better understand and harmonize your physical and emotional being.

Evening Practice - Trataka

In the gentle hush of evening, as the sun's last light begins to wane, it's time to embark on a sacred practice. A practice that prepares the canvas of your consciousness, clearing away the myriad interactions, thoughts, and emotions that have colored your day. This ritual paves the way for dream work and the gentle exploration of your subconscious, creating a harmonious space for your slumber and a beautiful tomorrow.

To begin, it's essential to distance yourself from the ever-present embrace of technology. An hour before you nestle into the cocoon of your dreams, let your digital companions rest. Disconnect, unplug, and allow your spirit to breathe.

As the world around you dims, kindle the soft glow of a candle. It dances, a miniature flame in the twilight, beckoning you to gaze upon it. For five minutes, allow your eyes to rest with the mesmerizing flicker, a practice known as the yogic trataka.

As you lose yourself in that delicate dance of light, feel it permeate your very essence. Let it wash over you, cleansing your mind of the day's residue, like a soothing, warm rain. In the presence of this luminous companion, your body yields, softening into relaxation, your mind surrendering to the serenity of the moment.

And as you stand at this threshold, ready to enter the realm of dreams, whisper the words into the stillness of the night, "I release the day." With each utterance, you free yourself from the burdens, worries, and cares that accompany the daylight hours. In this simple act of release, you make room for the gentle wisdom of your dreams, the whispers of your subconscious, and the promise of a new day.

The Exploration of Inner and Outer Realms

"In the intersection of our inner and outer worlds, we find the courage to embrace our unique vibrations, manifest our truest desires, and nurture them with the wisdom of a bountiful heart. Let your roots grow deep, and let the universe work through you."

My journey into these insights and practices involves deep meditation and a keen exploration of my dreams. It's a process of inviting introspection and asking a simple yet profound question: "What wishes to emerge?" Additionally, I seek guidance from my trusty tarot cards. They serve as a doorway to illuminate aspects I might have overlooked or to reinforce my awareness of the messages that are beginning to surface.

Inner Realm: The Individual

"Step into the role of the heart-womb channel, where your authentic expression thrives. Embrace the call to recharge and revitalize, and in your openness, manifest what's uniquely yours. Face your fears, gather strength, and nurture your dreams. This is not a fleeting moment but a substantial uprising, rooted in profound wisdom. Surrender to the heart's desires, nurture your truest intentions, and let your roots grow deep."

Arising: Knight of Swords

Balancing: 7 of Pentacles

When you entered this physical world, you arrived in a body, eager to experience the world around you. Every day, you peer out of the windows to your soul, driven by the desire to share your authentic expression. There's a calling beckoning you to step up once more! You are surrounded by an energy that promises to recharge and revitalize you, but to accept this mission, you must be clear and open.

To prepare for what's to come, consider these questions:

  • What wishes to manifest through you?

  • Are you ready to be the channel, even if it challenges your mental desires?

  • What obstacles might hold you back?

  • How will you make space for these manifestations to occur?

This is a call to become the heart-womb channel. The womb cradles the seed, while the heart radiates the vibration. Be aware that any fears can distort this message.

I sense an opening, a moment when we will gather strength to confront our fears and continue on our journey. This is a long-term manifestation, a unique vibration created as you exist. It demands fertile soil, which is your vessel. Embrace every victory, no matter how small, as they collectively build the bigger picture.

This is not a fleeting moment of glory; it's a substantial uprising that will serve both you and the collective. It calls for gentleness and a careful selection of moments/rituals to sow the seeds. This phase of your journey is not to be rushed. It's rooted in a wisdom that is bountiful and profound. It is beyond the mind's desires, therefore there is a surrender that will take place. A surrender into the heart.

So, what can you explore?

Begin by checking in with your fundamental needs:

  • Sleep

  • Nutrition

  • Movement

  • Social interactions

  • Environment

Examine each of these areas to determine where you are nourished and where your life force is being depleted. Essentially, you are mothering yourself so that the universe can work through you. In this process, your truest desires will be met, even if they differ from what you initially expected. The mind has often been colonized, burying our genuine desires way deep. It's time to shine a light on them and nurture them, allowing the roots to grow deep and strong.

External Realm: The Collective

"In the face of suffering and shadows, we become the light keepers. We hold each other in love, peeling back the layers of pain, nurturing our inner light until it blazes bright. Love prevails, and in the midst of uncertainty, our hearts guide us to what truly nourishes our tribe."

Arising: 10 of Swords

Balancing: 2 of Swords

The mental realm exerts its influence, casting shadows in the eyes of humanity, where suffering and trauma lie captured—both evident and concealed, whether physically, emotionally, or mentally. In these moments, our sorrow and suffering unveil our inner wounds. Now, we summon the light keepers. It's not a simple task in the face of suffering.

To ground ourselves in love, we can say, "I hold you, and I will not turn away. I will bear witness to your journey, peeling back the layers of pain." What flows through us is an ancient trauma, an invitation to prayer. And when there are no words, when even our own inner light may be flickering, we go inward and nurture it until it blazes bright. Love will prevail!

We are called to witness our own mind's so that the words and actions we emit are rooted in love. One hand reaches out to the world, while the other lays open, facing the sky. Inhale, drawing in the energy from the palm turned toward the sky, channeling it into your heart to be alchemized. Exhale love through the palm extended to the world.

In moments when it feels like we're blinded, torn between speaking out and remaining silent, turn to your heart and ask, "What would nourish my tribe? What is the intention behind the words or actions seeking manifestation?" We are gently guided back to the tender sanctuary of the heart, time and time again.

Exercise: Deepening Connections Through a Letter to a Loved One

  • Choose a loved one, the first one who comes to mind.

  • Write a heartfelt letter expressing your feelings, gratitude, and love for them.

  • Be honest, vulnerable, and specific about what you cherish in them.

  • Sign and send the letter, or deliver it in person.

Moon Practices

"In the gentle embrace of the moon's ethereal light, we find solace and strength, forging a connection to the cosmic rhythm through the sacred dance of ritual."

Let's explore where we can infuse more ritual and ceremony into our lives this month. Don't forget to mark them in your calendar.

Waning Half Moon - November 5th

Think of this autumn as a time when leaves fall, nurturing the earth in preparation for retreat.

1. Take this moment to cleanse your space, and organize your home, calendar, and digital photos.

2. Choose two areas to focus on and craft an affirmation about making space for what deeply nourishes you while releasing what no longer serves.

Dark Moon - November 13th

During this phase, create fertile soil within your being.

1. Collect items from nature and assemble them into an altar. Light a candle and wrap your womb, so it feels held and connected in this ceremony.

2. Write your intention on a piece of paper and place it in a jar along with dried flowers, crystals, and /or rocks (whatever resonates). Keep it visible as a symbol of your intentions taking root.

Waxing Moon - November 20th

As spring arrives, it's a time for a fresh start and a moment to plan ahead, guided by the wisdom you've gathered.

1. Dance to a song that fills your heart with joy.

2. Take a large sheet of paper and consider all the small steps you can take to support your future vision and/or intention set on the dark moon

Full Moon - November 27th

Summer is here, a season of heightened energy on Earth and within us.

1. Return to your altar and refresh it. Retrieve your jar with your intention and hold it close to your heart. Offer the contents of the jar back to the earth, but keep the written intention.

2. Fill the glass with drinking water and attach your intention to the lid.

3. Leave it under the full moonlight, and the next day, drink in that intention, allowing it to become a part of you. Release half to the ground, consciously letting go of one thing that no longer serves you.

Medicine Woman

Plant of the month: Nettle

"Cautious of their sting, nettles hide their healing within. Like life's challenges, they may seem harsh, but within them lies profound nourishment and strength."

Witches and medicine women who are intimately linked to nature, possess the ability to slow down, to observe, and to receive the profound gifts nature bestows upon us. They engage in a practice of deep listening, not only to the whispers of the body but also to the wisdom of the Earth itself. In the past, they were deemed a potential threat because of their capacity to heal and awaken others through the use of natural remedies. They were often labeled as crones and crazy hags. (A curious compliment, indeed!)

Today we get to know nettles, scientifically known as Urtica dioica. Nettle boasts a rich history of use that spans centuries. This remarkable plant was revered by ancient civilizations, including the Greeks and Romans, who held it in high regard for its remarkable medicinal properties. In medieval Europe, nettle was a staple in the herbal apothecary, where it served as a natural remedy for a wide range of arisings, from joint pain to allergies. Additionally, it was regarded as a valuable and nutritious food source that contributed to the well-being of many.

Energetics: In the realm of herbalism, nettle is regarded as grounding and stabilizing. Its very presence can bestow a sense of balance and strength, rendering it a valuable ally.

The Multifaceted Benefits of Nettle: This versatile herb serves a multitude of purposes. It functions as a warming spring tonic, ushering in the transition from the cold, damp conditions of winter to the vibrancy of spring. Nettle is renowned as a blood builder, primarily due to its significant iron content. Furthermore, it acts as a styptic, effectively reducing post-partum bleeding, and a diuretic, helping to flush excess water from the body. With its anti-inflammatory properties that stabilize mast cells and aid in protein digestion, nettle proves to be a powerful ally. Additionally, it's a vulnerary rich in amino acids, promoting tissue repair and rejuvenation.

Here's a list of other reasons why you might consider using nettle:

  1. Allergies

  2. Menstrual health

  3. Nutrient boost

  4. Arthritis and joint pain

  5. Hair and skin health

  6. Diuretic

  7. Blood health

  8. Respiratory health

  9. Womb nourishment

Nutrient Powerhouse: Nettle is brimming with essential vitamins, including vitamin A, C, E, F, K, and P. Its mineral content is equally impressive, offering zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, selenium, boron, and an array of other essential minerals. It is an excellent source of calcium, providing 32 to 42% of the daily requirement in just one cup. Moreover, nettle contains various B-complex vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and B-6, which function as antioxidants and support energy production. Additionally, nettle's chlorophyll content offers antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

A "Womb Tonic": Nettle deserves special recognition for its role as a "womb tonic." It is considered a uterine tonic which is a property that helps strengthen and tone the muscles and tissues of the uterus.

Preparations: Nettle can be incorporated into your daily life in various ways. It can be enjoyed as a nourishing tea, added to soups, or sautéed as greens. Infusions and decoctions are common methods for extracting nettle's valuable nutrients, and tinctures offer a concentrated form of its benefits.

Getting to know your body

Your Fabulous Feet

Did you know that your pelvic floor and your feet are interconnected through a complex network of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascial systems that span throughout your body?

Think of fascia as a web that maintains the structure of your body. It's a thin connective tissue that envelops and supports every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, and muscle in your body.

It's fascinating how when you stand or walk, your feet play a crucial role in providing a stable foundation for your body. This stability, in turn, supports and stabilizes your pelvic floor and core muscles. On the flip side, when your pelvic floor is weak or locked, it can influence your posture, gait, and the health of your feet.

Exercise to strengthen this connection:

Start by standing with a comfortable stride and tuning in to the sensations in your feet as they touch the ground. Distribute your weight across the ball of your feet, particularly at the 1st and 5th toes, and your heels, creating a tripod-like support. Keep a soft, slight bend in your knees. Lift your toes and spread them wide, then gently press them down into the ground. As you do this, you should feel your foot arch lifting and engaging. You can start by practicing this one foot at a time and then progress to both feet in a normal standing position.

Remember to show your feet some love every day. Shoes with high heels (or any elevation), and a narrow or/and inflexible design can alter the natural shape and movement of your feet and pelvis. Go on give them a wiggle and a little rub.

Nourishment for the mind

The RAIN Technique for Mental Health

This technique, known as RAIN, is inspired by the wisdom of Tara Brach, a meditation teacher. It can guide you in making space between your emotions and thoughts, enabling you to anchor yourself in the present and engage your rational mind for a clearer perception of what's truly happening and what actions will serve your well-being.

Recognize (R):

The first step of the RAIN technique is to recognize what's occurring within you. This involves acknowledging your thoughts, feelings, and emotions without judgment. Often, our initial response is to resist or push away unpleasant emotions, but RAIN encourages you to meet them with openness and acceptance. Recognizing your emotional state is a powerful act of self-awareness.

Allow (A):

Once you've recognized your emotions and thoughts, the next step is to allow them to be as they are. This means not trying to change or suppress them. Allow them to exist without resistance, understanding that your feelings are a natural part of the human experience. Allowing paves the way for inner peace and self-compassion.

Investigate (I):

The "I" in RAIN stands for investigate. In this step, you turn your attention inward and explore your thoughts and emotions with curiosity. Dive deep into your inner world and ask yourself questions like, "What triggered these emotions?" and "What are these thoughts telling me?" Investigating your mental landscape helps you gain insight into the root causes of your emotional state.

Nurture (N):

Finally, nurture yourself with self-compassion. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a dear friend. This step involves recognizing your own vulnerability and pain and offering soothing words or gestures to comfort yourself. By nurturing your inner self, you'll find the strength and resilience to face life's challenges with grace.

RAIN invites you to slow down, be present, and tend to your inner landscape with care in a world that often rushes us through our emotions and thoughts.

DIY - Candles

Candles have long held a special place in my life, you're not a witch without a candle right?! For years I didn't realize how they could actually be harming my health. Many commercially available candles are made from paraffin wax, a byproduct of petroleum refining, which releases harmful toxins when burned. Additionally, some candles contain chemical fragrances and synthetic dyes.

So, why not take matters into your own hands and make your own candles? Crafting your candles from natural ingredients can be both simple and rewarding. Not only do you have control over what goes into your candles, but you also get to create unique, personalized scents and designs. Here's how to get started:

Choose Your Wax:

Beeswax: Beeswax is a natural and sustainable option that produces a warm, honey-like scent. It burns cleanly and doesn't release harmful chemicals into the air, make sure it is organic.

Soy Wax: Made from soybean oil, soy wax is biodegradable and renewable. It's known for its slow and even burn, making it a fantastic choice for candle-making.

Tallow: Tallow candles have been used for centuries. These candles are traditionally made from animal fat, and while not suitable for vegetarians or vegans, they're a natural and historically authentic choice.

Gather Your Materials:

  • Wax

  • Wicks: Choose an organic cotton wick or make you're own by dipping cotton into melted wax

  • Essential Oils: Natural and chemical-free.

  • Color: opt for natural alternatives like powdered herbs, spices, or even dried flower petals.

  • Double Boiler: A double boiler or a heatproof container that fits inside a pot is essential for melting your wax gently.

  • Molds or Containers

  • Pegs

The Candle-Making Process:

  • Melt the wax gently in your double boiler or heatproof container

  • Add essential oil and natural colorants as desired.

  • Secure the wick at the center of your mold or container with a peg

  • Pour the melted wax into the mold or container.

  • Allow the candle to cool and solidify. This process may take several hours.

  • Trim the wick to the desired length.

Ok, that will give you enough to play with this month! Tag me if you upload it to your social media so I can repost it and inspire the tribe. The final gift is a Womb Awakening playlist for you to enjoy!

Thank you for being you!

"May you be happy, May you be healthy, May you be safe, May you live with ease.

Love,

Danielle
