Waxing Half Moon Energy

The Energy of the Waxing Half-Moon: Aligning with Spring and the Maiden Archetype

The waxing half-moon greets us on January 6-7th, bringing the vibrant energy of spring and the Maiden archetype. This celestial phase invites us to reemerge from the inner underworld, a symbolic return to the light after deep reflection.

It is a time to carry forward the gifts of insight and wisdom gained in the darkness, transforming them into manifestations for personal growth and the collective.

This phase, associated with the rising sun in the east and the air element, gently nudges us to focus on our words and thoughts. Through prayer and ritual, we cleanse our energy, sending heartfelt messages into the universe. It’s a moment to pause, reflect, and act with intentionality as we move towards the fruition of our intentions.

Reflecting on Joy and Lightness

As we align with the waxing moon’s air energy, we are invited to consider: what brings us joy and makes us feel light?

Here are some simple yet powerful practices to infuse your week with this uplifting energy:

  • Dancing in the breeze

  • Singing or chanting

  • Exploring new places

  • Cloud watching

  • Journaling your thoughts

  • Trying new tea blends

  • Filling your space with uplifting scents

Pause and Reflect

Before we fully transition into action, let’s pause and reflect on the journey so far:

  • How was the Dark Moon for you? What surfaced in your life?

  • What realizations or themes presented themselves during this introspective phase?

Take a moment to tune into your body. Close your eyes and feel into the sensation of curiosity. What does it feel like within you? How does your body move, breathe, and exist when guided by soul inspiration?

Imagine yourself as a flower, just beginning to rise above the surface of the earth after growing deep roots. Fresh, curious, and eager to stretch upward, you reach for the light with gentle determination.

This Week is Perfect For:

  • Setting and checking in with your intentions for the month

  • Creating plans for the weeks ahead

  • Dancing and exploring life in both the spiritual and physical realms

Mars Retrograde in Cancer: Reflect, Recalibrate, and Nurture Your Emotional Foundations

Mars, the planet of action, drive, and passion, governs our confidence, energy, and desire.

When Mars goes retrograde, which is did from December 6, 2024, and will continue until February 23, 2025, that energy turns inward, inviting us to slow down and reassess our motivations.

Shifting Perspectives

During Mars retrograde your desires and intentions may shift. This period may shine a light on past dreams that no longer serve you, leading to a questioning of your path. As these changes unfold, it may feel like you're “rocking the boat.” Sometimes, our visions and dreams can pull us out of the present moment, and if we’re not anchored in gratitude and presence, it can create resistance or a feeling of being stuck.

The key to finding balance is love—remembering your purpose and grounding yourself in the present.

Each moment is an opportunity to pour your energy into what you’re calling in. If things aren’t unfolding as expected, it’s easy to feel hopeless or like you're not moving forward. This is where love, presence, and gratitude come in—let them anchor you as you work through these shifts.

Is there a skill or knowledge you’ve been wanting to expand? Let your mind anchor in that, while your love moves you gently forward like a boat on the water.

Moon Meditation

Sidereal Astrology

Sidereal vs. Tropical Astrology

Sidereal astrology uses the real positions of the stars in the sky to create your chart. It differs from tropical astrology. Because the Earth’s position slowly shifts over time, sidereal astrology reflects where the stars actually are today, while tropical astrology keeps the zodiac signs fixed to the seasons. As a result, your zodiac sign might be different in sidereal astrology compared to tropical astrology.

Sun in Sagittarius: Fire Sign

Sun in Sagittarius: Expanding Horizons and Visionary Energy

The Sun in Sagittarius brings with it a call to expand our horizons, plant new seeds, and release ourselves from the constraints of playing small.

This energy is bold, adventurous, and visionary, urging us to step into our power and embrace the infinite possibilities of life.

When I envision Sagittarius, I am drawn to the image of the Centaur—a being with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. This duality carries profound symbolism. The horse represents untamed, primal energy, strength, and loyalty, while the human archer with a poised bow symbolizes purpose, precision, and a clear direction.

This juxtaposition of wild freedom and grounded power is dynamic. It reflects a dance between instinct and intellect, between the animal’s raw force and the human’s calculated aim. The Centaur, always in motion, evokes boundless vibrancy and the spirit of exploration.

A Call to Expand

With the Sun in Sagittarius, we are invited to embody this energy. It’s a time to:

  • Dream Big: Let go of self-imposed limitations and imagine a larger, more expansive vision for your life.

  • Take Action: Plant the seeds for future growth. This is the season to move beyond the comfort zone and embrace the unknown.

  • Trust the Process: Like the archer releasing the bowstring, trust in the flow of life. Stay connected to your inner vision, but remain open to surprises and the unexpected.

The Centaur’s Wisdom: Balance and Growth

The Centaur teaches us that true growth requires both focus and surrender. The archer’s gaze is steady and purposeful, but the act of releasing the arrow demands trust and spontaneity. This interplay is a powerful reminder to align instinct with intention and wildness with clarity.

Moon in Pisces: Water Element

Moon in Pisces: Attuning to the Depths of Inner Peace

When the Moon resides in Pisces, it aligns us with the undercurrents of life—the ethers, dreams, and ideals that connect us to the collective waters of emotion.

Pisces, symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, represents duality. It is both a journey of surrender and discovery, navigating the vast emotional and spiritual realms within.

The water element amplifies the emotional and intuitive nature of this placement, serving as a reminder of the memory held within water. Just as water replenishes and removes stagnancy, so too can this energy awaken the inner world of emotions, dreams, and creativity.

It calls for us to explore what flows beneath the surface and to engage in practices that nurture our emotional attunement and spiritual alignment.

A Call to Follow Your Heart

The Moon in Pisces invites a deeper reflection:

What is your true calling? Not what others expect, not even what your logical mind prescribes, but what your heart creates when allowed to move freely, like a dance without constraints.

Heart-Opening Practices

Practically speaking, how can we embody this energy?

Here are some heart-opening practices to connect with your emotional and spiritual essence:

  1. Breathwork: Deep, intentional breathing can create space within your heart center. Visualize your breath expanding your chest and softening any tension.

  2. Humming or Singing: Engage your voice in a way that feels freeing. Humming can stimulate the vagus nerve and create a sense of calm and connection.

  3. Moments of Flow: Identify activities that make you lose track of time—dancing, painting, journaling, or simply being in nature. These are the moments when your heart is most alive.

  4. Water Rituals: Spend time near water or engage in cleansing rituals like baths with salt or herbs. Reflect on water’s ability to hold, replenish, and transform.
